Can you smell Gas?
- Do not ignite any naked flames and extinguish anything already lit immediately.
- Do not switch on or off any electrical device, including lights. A spark could ignite the gas.
- Turn off the gas supply at the mains – normally by the meter.
- Open all doors and windows to ventilate the property.
- Evacuate everyone from the property to a safe distance and check everyone is OK.
- Call the National Gas Emergency number (see below).
Headaches, Nausea, Dizziness and generally not feeling well?
- Get fresh air immediately. Open all doors and windows to ventilate the room.
- Switch off the appliance and do not use it until checked by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
- Turn off the gas supply at the mains – normally by the meter.
- Call the National Gas Emergency number (see below).
- If feeling ill visit a GP or hospital immediately, tell them you may be suffering from CO poisoning.
- Contact a Gas Safe registered engineer to check and fix the appliance.
